A puncture resistance test on flexible packaging material to international test standard BS EN 14477:2004 is conducted using a MultiTest 2.5-xt touch-screen force tester and  puncture test fixture.  The force tester is driven by Emperor software, which  controls the speed of the test stand, collects  the data, and then calculates penetration force, elongation at break and the penetration energy.

A peel test on a foil sealed wine glass is conducted using a MultiTest 1-i PC-controlled force tester.  The peak and average force needed to remove the foil lid from the wine glass is measured and the results are displayed graphically using Mecmesin's Emperor force measurement software.

Compression springs are tested for quality control using a Mecmesin force test system fitted with a Self-Levelling Compression Plate. The system can measure and report on: The Free-Length of the spring; The Spring Rate over a defined range: A load at a specified length, or a length at a specified load.

The opening and closing torque on lipsticks is tested using a Vortex-i PC-controlled torque testing system. The torque tester is fitted with custom designed adaptors to fit different sizes of lipsticks.  The Vortex-i is driven by Mecmesin's Emperor Torque software, which gives immediate indication of "Pass" or "Fail" for each type and size of lipstick.  Results can be seen in real-time and stored for future use.

This video shows torsion springs being tested to pre-defined torque settings using Mecmesin's Vortex-i PC-controlled torque testing system. The torsion springs are held securely by custom-designed individual two-part mandrels. The Vortex-i is driven by Mecmesin's Emperor Torque software, which gives immediate indication of "Pass" or "Fail" for each type and size of torsion spring.

The performance and quality of cosmetics, in the same way as food texture analysis, can be tested for objectively.

A 135 degree peel test is carried out on a sample of medical packaging to ensure maximum seal with minimum peel.  A custom designed vacuum fixture attached to a MultiTest-i PC-controlled force tester holds the sample firmly so that repeatable results are achieved when the lid is peeled off at a constant speed of 500 mm/min.

A 90° peel test of pressure sensitive adhesives is carried out using a FPT-H1 horizontal friction peel tear tester and a 90° peel test fixture kit. This is suitable for testing to a range of peel testing standards including FINAT 2, ASTM D3330 Method F, Afera 5001, BS EN 1939 Annex B and PSTC 1001 Method F.

Mecmesin's digital torque testers are used to measure the mimimum application torque of Child-resistant closures according to ASTM D3810.  The Tornado is a portable, battery powered hand operated instrument can be used anywhere, while the motorised Vortex-xt torque tester provides a constant test speed for reliable repeatability of testing.

Mecmesin's digital torque testers are used to measure the reverse-ratchet torque performance of child-resistant closures according to ASTM D3472.  The Tornado is a portable, battery powered hand operated instrument, while the motorised Vortex-xt provides a constant test speed for reliable repeatability of testing.
